Neither our yard space nor our budget has room for a large heated greenhouse, which would make year round gardening relatively easy, instead we use a raised garden bed with plastic tunnel on our side deck. We love gardening, but our property is located on a very steep hill here in North Georgia. Needing a sunny location, we discovered that gardening on our deck is easy and convenient to simply walk out of our kitchen, cut a view herbs or veggies and cook them for our family is so rewarding, economical and fun!
Constructing the plastic tunnel over our raised bed will come in handy this fall and winter by allowing us to grow varieties of lettuces that are surprisingly cold-hardy. Spinach, kale, and other greens are among the different varieties we plan to grow! The photo below shows how we constructed our plastic tunnel!
